MA, Doctoral ExternEmail »EFleming@waypointwellnesscenter.com

I am a Licensed Psychology Associate in Maryland and doctoral extern working under the supervision of Dr. Allyson Kett. I am an aspiring clinical psychologist currently pursuing my doctoral degree at Stevenson University, with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026. I have a robust educational background, having completed my Master’s in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the same institution. I am dedicated to a theoretical orientation that emphasizes interpersonal empathy and cultural sensitivity, integrating approaches from CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and family-based therapy. I am caring, compassionate, and love collaborating with my clients to help them reach their goals.

Professional Experience

I am dedicated to a theoretical orientation that emphasizes interpersonal empathy and cultural sensitivity, integrating approaches from CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and family-based therapy. My clinical experience includes working as a psychology extern at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital and the University of Maryland Medical Center, where I assess and treat children with various mental health issues. My commitment to understanding and addressing the complex intersections of cultural identities, family dynamics, and individual resilience guides my
therapeutic practice. As a Hispanic individual from a first-generation immigrant family from Guatemala, I bring a
personal understanding of cultural dynamics to my work. I enjoy working with re-teens, teens, and families facing a range of presenting problems, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, separation-anxiety disorder, adjustment disorders, and family dynamics.

Life Outside the Office

I live in Edgewater, MD on a farmstead with my husband. We sell our vegetables and eggs at our local farmers market. We currently have about 80 chickens (but are looking to give a few away), a rooster named Henry, 9 ducks, and a goose named Honey. We also have a pet cat named Spud and a pet dog named Raven. In my free time I enjoy doing arts and crafts, crocheting, sewing, line dancing, hiking, swimming, and of course, binge watching Netflix.

Ethel started her year-long psychology externship at Waypoint this summer. She works in the Severna Park and Annapolis location and she also provides telehealth services.
