I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical that has worked for over 30 years with children, adolescents and families. My specialty area is working with children ages 3-12 with a variety of problems, including anxiety, depression, social struggles, trauma, and ADHD. In addition to working with children, I enjoy helping parents learn how to best respond to their child and support them while they work through difficult situations. It is my goal to connect with parents and support them as they are trying to support their child.
I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including CBT, Structural Family Therapy and several trauma therapies such as EMDR and TFCBT. I will assess which modality would be the most helpful for a child, but I prefer to use Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Sandtray Therapy as often as possible with young children.
Professional Experience
I received my Master’s degree from University of Maryland School of Social Work with a specialty in Families and Children in 1992. I am currently the Assistant Director of Bowie Youth & Family Services where I have worked with children and families for the past 32 years. While working with these families, I have worked with a variety of clinical issues. Most recently, I have been focusing my therapy on young children and expanding my skills with a variety of trainings in the expressive arts including play therapy and sandtray therapy.
Life Outside of the Office
I am married with two adult children in their twenties. I enjoy reading novels, going to country concerts and spending time with my family. I am a cat lover and enjoy my two cats at home!
