As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have been given the opportunity to work in various interdisciplinary team roles to develop and grow my skill set when providing therapy services. Therapy modalities I typically administer include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Conflict-Resolution, and Play Therapy. I find it important to always guide clients using a strengths-based approach in order to highlight their skills as the center of the helping process. Most importantly, I find value in building positive and trusting therapeutic relationships with my clients to promote a worthwhile and comfortable therapy experience. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and validated through the challenging times and the good times!
Professional Experience
After attending Towson University and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Human Services I decided to begin my journey as a social worker by obtaining my Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Upon graduation in May 2019, I began working as an outpatient mental health therapist through The Children’s Guild in Anne Arundel County. During this time, I focused on providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and their families in the Annapolis community. I have experience treating clients with Anxiety, ADHD, Mood Disorders, Depression, and Adjustment Disorder. I am extremely passionate about my work and enjoy the process of guiding and supporting clients as they build the skills to fulfill their potential.
Life Outside the Office
I live in Annapolis, Maryland and enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family on the weekends. My favorite time of year is the Fall because I enjoy football, bonfires and comfy sweaters. Also, I love going to the movies!
Kayla practices in the Annapolis and Severna Park locations and also provides telehealth services. She participates with the following insurances: Tricare and will soon participate with: USFH and JH EHP.
